Q: Are there any requirements to get my child enrolled into a Pre-K program?
A: Eligibility is based on poverty federal income guidelines. Your child MUST be 4 years old on or before August 1st of the school year you would like to enroll them. Q: How many Pre-K programs does Washoe County School District (WCSD) offer?
A: WCSD offers 37 Pre-K programs.
Q: How long will my child be in Pre-K?
A: WCSD Pre-K is a one-year program.
Q: What is the Pre-K schedule?
A: Pre-K programs will mirror the in-session hours of the K-5 school it is located in. They will begin the school year the same day as kindergarten. The programs run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with no class on Wednesdays.
Q: Can my child attend any Pre-K program in WCSD?
A: If you are eligible and your child is accepted, they must attend their zoned elementary school Pre-K program.
Q: When can I apply?
A: We recommend joining our interest list when your child turns 3 years old.
Q: What if there is a delayed start due to weather?
A: Pre-K follows district snow day guidelines. All half day programs will be cancelled in the event of a weather delay.
