Amy Hicks

It is truly an honor to serve the students, families, staff, and communities of the Washoe County

School District as Area Superintendent. I am grateful to have spent more than twenty years in public education across Northern Nevada and California. My career began as a teacher at Smithridge Elementary School and Westmore Oaks Elementary School in West Sacramento. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of leadership roles within WCSD, including serving as an Instructional Coach at Echo Loder Elementary School, Assistant Principal at Brown Elementary School, Instructional Coordinator for Special Education, and most recently, Principal at Hidden Valley Elementary School.

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to learn alongside dedicated educators, supportive families, and inspiring students. These experiences have reinforced my belief that strong relationships, collaboration, and high expectations create opportunities for every student to succeed. Working at both the school and district levels has deepened my commitment to ensuring that all students feel supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

As Area Superintendent, I am committed to supporting principals and school communities, fostering positive and inclusive learning environments, and helping every student achieve success. I look forward to partnering with our staff, families, and community as we continue the important work of ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
