VOCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR INCLUSIVE CAREER EDUCATION (VOICE)
Vocational Opportunities for Inclusive Career Education (VOICE), is a partnership between Washoe County School District and DETR (Vocational Rehabilitation). The goal of the program is to provide job-related and transition skills/training focused on having our clients obtain competitive employment. Clients must have graduated from high school and be a client of Vocational Rehabilitation to be eligible for VOICE. Acceptance into the program is via the application process. Entrance criteria was developed by in collaboration with the VOICE employer partners. - The Project SEARCH Transition-to-Work Program is a unique, business-led, one-year employment preparation program that takes place entirely at the workplace. Total workplace immersion facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through worksite rotations. The program culminates in individualized job development.
- The Washoe County School District is partnering with the United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada to pilot Project SEARCH in Washoe County.
- Up to 13 students (ages 18-22 years old) will be able to gain employment preparation at the Atlantis Hotel in the 2019-2020 school year.
