Washoe County School District
- These classes are all Elementary.
Volunteer ServicesA free training session is provided by the Washoe County School District for volunteers who wish to tutor struggling math students (Kindergarten through 3rd grade). Parents are also welcome to attend to learn interventions to help their own children. Tutors are taught numerous games to assist children struggling in math. Each tutor is provided with a Math Paths training kit, which contains equipment, and other manipulatives for tutoring. Spanish translation through headsets is also available at these training sessions.
In an effort to continue to grow, WCSD Volunteer Services developed a training video to assist community volunteers who wish to become Math tutors; as well as to aid those volunteers who wish to review the training.
Math Paths Training Video
Math Path Trainings are provided once a month on a Thursday from 5:15pm to 7:15pm. Tutors are required to attend at least one session. To find the next available training session please see the calendar below.A free training session is also provided by the Washoe County School District for volunteers who wish to tutor struggling readers (Kindergarten through 6th grade). Parents are also welcome to attend to learn interventions to help their own children. Each trainee is provided with a Read and Succeed training booklet which contains valuable information on the academic side of reading to students. Spanish translation through headsets is also available at these training sessions.
In an effort to continue to grow, WCSD Volunteer Services developed a training video to assist community volunteers who wish to become Reading tutors and for those volunteers who wish to review the training.
