The Governor's Points of Light Awards are presented in six different categories at the Governor's Points of Light Awards event each year.
The Governor's Points of Light Awards celebrate the extraordinary volunteer efforts of Nevadans all across the state in six different categories: Individual (North, South, and Rural), Outstanding Nonprofit/Community Organization Volunteer Program, Corporate Volunteer Program, and Volunteer Manager.
The Governor's Points of Light Award recipients are selected based on the following criteria:
Achievement: Nominee accomplishments are exemplary, far exceed expectations, and are measurable.
Need: Nominee addresses a need that was not previously met in the community.
Innovation: Nominee has applied a new solution to an existing social problem.
Mobilization: Nominee has empowered the community to support the program/event as demonstrated by quality and or quantity of volunteers. The service should result or present opportunities for mobilizing other volunteers.
Endurance: Nominee has developed a long-term solution to significant social issues through hands-on volunteer service. The service must be direct and ongoing, rather than a one-time activity, with the exception of short-term crisis situations.
