Current WCSD (Classified) Education Support Professional Employees

  • STEP 1

Obtain a substitute or teacher license issued by the Nevada State Department of Education. Go to doe.nv.gov.

You will need a minimum of 60 credits, or an associates (or higher) degree earned. For all questions regarding licensure, please contact the Nevada State Department of Education at 775-687-5980 between 1 & 5pm or email.

    STEP 2

Complete a Washoe County School District "certified” application*. Click here to create an online account.

PLEASE NOTE:  Once your application is complete, you must attach it to the Substitute Teacher job posting and follow the instructions shown.

All district positions require 4 returned confidential references, one of which must be your current or previous direct supervisor.  Whenever possible, provide email addresses for your references in the application so they can be sent electronically.  Notify your references that you will be using them as a part of the WCSD application process and encourage them to respond as soon as possible.

*Your references cannot be older than 18 months. If they are, you need to submit new ones.

    STEP 3

Pass a screening interview: once you have received your substitute teaching or teaching license, and your application is complete (4 references are marked “returned” on your online application), please email us at suboffice@washoeschools.net

    STEP 4

Attend a Substitute Teacher Orientation.  After you pass your screening interview, we will schedule.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS ARE REQUIRED TO WORK AT LEAST 10 TIMES A YEAR.
COUNTING BEGINS ON THE MONTH YOU ARE HIRED.
