Career & Technical Education Advisory Technical Skills Committee

  • Purpose Statement

     

    The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Technical Skills Committee is established by the superintendent, in accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 388.385, to establish strong linkages between career and technical education programs and the community. The committee is advisory in nature and has no administrative authority. The Committee, and all work conducted under its direction, will adhere to Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 388.385 and Nevada’s Open Meeting Law, NRS Chapter 241.
     
    The CTE Advisory Technical Skills Committee has the following overarching purposes:
    • Reviewing curriculum, design, content and operation of the program of career and technical education to determine its effectiveness in preparing students to enter the workforce to meet the needs of supplying an appropriately trained workforce;
    • Advise the school district regarding the curriculum, design, content and operation of the career and technical education program(s); and
    • Work in cooperation with businesses, industries, employer associations and employee organizations in the community to develop work-based experiences for CTE students.

    Meetings of the CTE Advisory Technical Skills Committee begin at 5:30 p.m. Meetings are held in the Board Room of the Central Administration Building, located at 425 East Ninth Street in Reno.  You may submit public comment via email at: CTEadvisorycommittee@washoeschools.net

    The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Technical Skills Committee consists of seventeen (17) voting members whose two-year terms run July - June. 

     

    • We are currently seeking one (1) representative from any industry to be appointed by the Superintendent and one (1) post-secondary education representative from TMCC
