Mr. Good

Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Good

My name is Andrew Good and I currently live in Reno, NV. I grew up in Bozeman, MT, enjoying all the amazing outdoors and activities that beautiful place has to offer. Eventually realizing I didn't have to live in –20 degree weather, I moved to Los Angeles when I was 18 to get a Bachelors degree in Film and Television Production from California State University-Northridge. I was fortunate enough to work for Fox Sports Network as a sports highlight film editor and also worked weekly as a production assistant on Larry King Live at CNN. After many long days and years, I took an early retirement to Utah and ended up filming and making professional ski and snowboard movies in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains outside of Salt Lake City. Not that spending your days in the backcountry filming amazing athletes was anything less than thrilling, I found myself wondering if I was meant for something better and more purposeful. I moved back to Montana to get my second degree in Elementary Education at Montana State University-Bozeman and then moved to Reno, NV, to finish my student teaching. This is where I found my true calling.

I have been working in Title One schools for the past 4 years as a fifth-grade teacher. My focus has been working with English Learners and I welcome the challenges and triumphs that each day provides. I am a part of the 21st Century Leadership Network that focuses on bringing students to their full potential and graduation through 21st-century skills and abilities. I work extensively with creating a modernized classroom to allow students to learn and engage through multiple technologies, cooperative project-based learning, and student-led explorations. In the past few years, I have continued to take on more leadership responsibilities at my school site and have finished my Masters in Educational Administration so I can continue to support and lead my fellow educators in the future.

I enjoy many outdoor activities such as snowboarding, golfing, hiking, and dirt biking. I recently got married to my wonderful wife last July. We enjoy traveling and spending time visiting family and all our friends.

For the future, I believe the only way we can create a better planet and society is through education. Every person deserves the right to learn and to become as amazing as their potential can take them. I want to continue to improve myself by completing my National Boards Certification and help improve my district and the state of education in Nevada. I believe the future will require new minds and open ideas to build an educational system that fits all learners. Through teaching and working with parents I hope to be a strong voice for every student.
