Immunization Information

  • Please make sure your child’s immunizations are current and meet requirements for school entry. There are still cases of serious diseases like chicken pox, polio, and pertussis (whooping cough) occurring in communities across the country. Vaccines protect your child, your family, and our entire community from the serious side effects of these diseases. For on-line information about vaccine recommendations, go to Washoe County Health District Immunization Information.

Student Health Services is reaching out with a reminder to parents and the community: All students entering 7th grade must get a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) booster shot before they can enter school in the fall.

New Vaccine Requirement for students entering 7th grade
Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) will be required for all Nevada 7th graders and new students in grades 7-12 enrolling in the Washoe County School District. This vaccine is required in addition to the Tdap vaccine.

For more information, please visit the Immunizations web page maintained by Student Health Services

Smith's pharmacists are licensed under Nevada law to provide immunizations to children and adults. You can get your required vaccines at your local Smith's pharmacy - no appointment necessary. The address of the closest Smith's to O'Brien STEM Academy is 175 Lemmon Drive, Reno, NV 89056 - 775.971.3310.
