    NSEA'S Loretta Harper Reach for the Stars Scholarship

    The Nevada State Education Association (NSEA), in partnership with elected leaders and community members, is pleased to offer two scholarships to those applicants who are selected.  The NSEA supports students pursuing a degree in education and highly encourages these students to apply.   However, the NSEA supports all education, so the application process is not limited to education students. 

    To apply for NSEA’s “Loretta Harper Reach for the Stars” scholarship, candidates must be a graduating senior or must have previously graduated from a Nevada public high school.  Candidates must be enrolled or enrolling in a Nevada accredited:

    • Community college
    • 4-year university
    • Career technology institution

Please feel free to duplicate the printed application or forward the link to complete the online application to all qualified candidates. Completed applications are due in the NSEA office no later than the close of business on March 29, 2024.

    Chuck Fletcher Scholarship

    To apply for the Chuck Fletcher Reach for the Stars scholarship, candidates must be a graduating senior or must have previously graduated from a Nevada public high school. Candidates must be enrolled or enrolling in a Nevada accredited:

    • community college,
    • 4-year university,
    • career technology institution.

    Completed applications are due in the NSEA office no later than the close of business on March 29, 2024. The scholarships will be awarded in April 2024.

    Brian Lee DoDEA Scholarship

    Applicant must be a graduate of or have attended a DoDEA high school. Scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each may be used to defray the costs of attending any 4-year college, community college, trade or vocational school, or an independent course of study. Independent courses of study may include apprenticeship programs, unpaid internships, language immersion programs, or other self-directed courses of study. 


    Elizabeth Brown Early Career Educators’ Scholarship 

    Applicant must be a teacher in a public school anywhere in Nevada and in their first through fifth years of teaching. Applicants must be a member of their local association/NSEA. Scholarship monies are to be used to help finance a Master’s Degree, National Boards, or for professional development training that will apply to licensure recertification or step and column advancement. The Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000.00 and is only for that year.  Scholarship funds will NOT be distributed to the applicant, but instead will be sent directly to the administrator of the program being attended. The following information must accompany the application.


    Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Scholarship 2021

    In 2011, the Nevada Legislature unanimously approved, and Governor Sandoval signed into law Senate Bill 220, establishing the Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Millennium Scholarship. The trust fund is used to bestow additional scholarships to four qualified Governor Guinn Millennium Scholars each year, two in northern Nevada and two in southern Nevada, who are majoring in elementary or secondary education with the intent of teaching in Nevada.
