    The Sierra Junior Tennis Association’s mission is to encourage youth to pursue their goals and highest dreams by succeeding in school and becoming responsible citizens through tennis.  This scholarship targets high school seniors pursuing an education at a community college, university or vocational school, and who have been tennis players in the Northern Nevada / Lake Tahoe region.

    $3,500 in scholarships will be awarded this year to deserving high school seniors who have participated in United States Tennis Association (USTA), high school tennis or other organized youth tennis programs in the Greater Truckee Meadows area. Applications due February 28th, 2024.

    The application and supporting materials must be mailed to

    Scholarship Selection Committee P.O. Box 6928 Reno, Nevada 89513 and postmarked by February 28, 2024, if a candidate is to be eligible for a 2024 Reno/Tahoe High School Senior Tennis Player Scholarship. Please print "Tennis Scholarship Application" on the outside of the envelope.

    Read all instructions and print clearly or type all forms. Failure to follow these instructions will prevent your application from being reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Upon completion of the application review process, all applicants will be notified of the scholarship winners by April 1, 2024 via mail.

    Three forms are required for the scholarship: A typed or clearly printed application signed by the applicant (P. 2); Two separate typed or clearly printed recommendations. (i.e., tennis coach, faculty member, employer, volunteer organization) (P. 3). The following supporting materials must be included with each application: A copy of applicant’s unofficial high school transcript including ninth grade through last quarter. The applicant’s typed essay as requested on the application. Qualifications: 1. Applicants must be or have been a participant in an organized tennis program in the Greater Truckee Meadows. 2. Applicants must be entering their first year of a higher degree institution as a full-time student into a community college, four-year college/university or vocational career institute. Applicant need not be planning to play college tennis to be considered for this scholarship
