Diabetes Educational Programs

The WCSD Wellness Program has partnered with the Nevada Business Group on Health and Access to Healthcare Network to provide two diabetes educational programs. As a participant in this program, you will gain the skills and resources needed to make informed healthy food choices, stay active, lose weight, manage prescription medications, reduce daily stress and sleep better. Individuals who successfully complete these programs report numerous benefits, including:
- Weight loss
- Improved energy and mood
- Lower medical expenses
- Improved overall health
- Better quality of life
- Reduced risk of developing type II diabetes
Access to Healthcare, a trusted local healthcare company, is certified to provide the DPP and DSME programs through its team of highly trained health coaches and registered dietitians. Please be aware that your employer will not be involved in this training. They will not be notified of or track potential or actual participants and will not have access to any protected health information as a part of this program.

DSME

Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSME):
For individuals who are already diagnosed with type II diabetes, DSME is an evidence-based group education program focused on providing participants with the tools and information they need to take control of their chronic condition and live a healthy life. Each participant will be able to meet one on one with a registered dietitian to develop a personalized plan of care focused on their own goals and connect with others who face similar challenges in managing their condition.
DPP

Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP):
For individuals who are diagnosed with pre-diabetes, or are at risk of developing diabetes, DPP is an evidence-based group education program that has been shown to reduce the risk of developing type II diabetes by upwards of 50%.
