    UPDATED 10/15/21

    Dear Bohach Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. We are thrilled to join you in supporting your children this year.

I am thrilled to announce that Ms. Brynn Hall has been selected as our new Assistant Principal. Ms. Hall is a veteran administrator who has served over three years as an elementary AP.  Most recently she supported over 20 schools in our district as a special education area administrator. Her knowledge, experience and dedication will benefit our entire community. We are very excited to welcome Ms. Hall to Bohach. Ms. Hall can be reached by email:  brynn.hall@washoeschools.net

We want you to feel comfortable at Bohach. If you need help or if your experience is not excellent, please let us know. We have three sacred promises at Bohach: we will keep your child safe, we will love them and we will make sure they learn. Like always, if you feel that we are not achieving these goals for you or your child, please reach out to us!!! Our office is available daily until 4:00. If you need anything please reach out. I am readily accessible by email and will follow up within 24 hours (usually sooner). My email is hgavrilles@washoeschools.net

As we are beginning the second quarter of our school year here are a few reminders:

    New info:

Conference week is this week, October 18-22. Dismissal each day is at 1:20 (we will continue to have staggered times next week--Kinder begins dismissing at 1:10, 1st at 1:13, 2nd at 1:16, 3rd at 1:18 and 4th and 5th are dismissed at 1:20) additionally, there will be NO AFTER SCHOOL program on site with Kid Connection next week.

Bohach Spirit Fridays: Please join us in showing our Nighthawk pride by wearing your Bohach gear every Friday. If you need Nighthawk gear, we do have t shirts, sweatshirts and baseball jerseys available in the office. We also have a grey t shirt available in YM, YL, AS, AM for the new value price of $10

APEX fundraiser: We are excited to have our Fall fundraiser which will run from October 25-November 5. More information as far as programming and pledges will come home soon.

Toys at school: please keep all toys (including but not limited to fidget toys, pop its, waffles, etc) at home. These items are problematic from a classroom management point and have been involved in several kid trades and schemes that result in hard feelings and disappointment. Also please remind your child not to trade or buy items from other students. Balls are OK but be aware that anything that you bring from home has a risk of being lost.

WCSD has updated the exclusion policy. A comprehensive link was sent to families earlier in the week and is also available here: https://www.washoeschools.net/covid19

Pick up and Dropoff: PLEASE HELP US! Drop off is at the curb ONLY. No dropping off in the middle lane. Please no parking in the yellow or red zones. I encourage you to park and walk to meet your child. We have these expectations so that all of our children are safe.

Kinder Parents in the school building: please remember that we should have STUDENTS ONLY entering the building before school. This is for many reasons including COVID-19 contact tracing and the presence of parents is distracting for our kindergarten students as we are helping them to gain independence. WE PROMISE THEY ARE FINE!!!! Thank you for helping us to create a safe school where our kids can independently begin their routines.

SWAG: we have t shirts and hoodies on sale in the office and these will be available for purchase during back to school night. All grey shirts are now $20. Tie dye t shirts are $20, Hoodies and baseball shirts are $25. WE HAVE NEW INVENTORY IN KID SIZES!!! Call or stop by for more info. Get that Bohach FIT!

Dropoff and pickup: drop off and pickup are at the FRONT OF THE SCHOOL ONLY. The area past door 3, parallel to Windmill Farms Parkway is for staff parking, busses and daycare vans only. The drop off loop starts at Sky Ranch Middle School and stretches all the way along the sidewalk past our flag pole. We think the best way to navigate the dropoff and pick up is to park and walk with your child. Please DROP ONLY AT THE CURB. Do not have kids get out in the left lanes!!! We are all responsible for the safety of our kids, thank you for your help!!

All students will receive a tag that will be attached to their backpack. The tag will have their name and how they go home. Please keep this tag in place. These help us to make sure everyone is getting where they need to be. These are especially important for our younger students. For bus riders we will also be attaching a Tyvek bracelet to the backpack, color coded for their bus.

School Start and dismissal times: School hours are 9:30-3:30. Supervision begins at 9:10 on the rear playground. Please do not come before 9:10. First bell rings at 9:25. Dismissal is staggered so that our younger students can get where they need to be before the rush. Kinder starts dismissing at 3:20, 1st at 3:23, 2nd at 3:26, 3rd at 3:28 and 4th and 5th are dismissed at 3:30. Wednesdays we have early release and school is dismissed at 2:45. Wednesday K dismissal is 2:35, 1st is 2:38, 2nd is 2:41, 3rd is 2:43 and 4th and 5th is 2:45.

Free Lunch for all students: We are continuing to provide free lunch for all students for this whole school year.

Bus Routes and Info: Should be available check transportation EZ link for details of your child’s bus stop. https://www.washoeschools.net/Page/176 if you need help with transportation, the department number is 337-7769 or call our office at 626-0062

Masks in schools: As you may be aware, Governor Sisolak issued a mask mandate for several counties including Washoe. Please plan to have your child masked daily for school. I understand that this is a difficult place to be in again with the return of mandates. We were very thankful to our families for their positivity in regard to maksing last year and look forward to this continuing. We are all in the same boat!!

Smoke: Smoke from wildfires has been an ongoing concern in our region again this summer. We monitor frequently at the school site and our plan is to keep students in when AQI is above 150. Additionally, our school nurse, Melissa,  is touching base with all families of children with respiratory distress to double check plans are updated and appropriate for each child. We are not expecting the same district response with “smoke days” this year. In the event of extreme smoke conditions, WCSD could cancel school and those days would be made up with contingency days in June.

Supplies: Please see our website for recommended school supplies by grade: https://www.washoeschools.net/Page/15664

School Website: Please see our website for updated info, resources and archived parent newsletters: https://www.washoeschools.net/bohach

Laptop Takehome Program and all school technology fee: All Bohach students in grades 3-5 participate in a laptop takehome program. Families must complete the Tech Agreement, pay the tech fee and insurance. At Bohach, laptops are required for instruction much like a textbook. Tech agreements have been updated and will be available later this week. For all students we charge a technology fee of $10. Your $10 of support helps us sustain access to OVER $1 MILLION in technology and is only sustainable with your support.

Growing enrollment: We are excited to welcome 8 additional teachers this fall as our enrollment has been increasing. I am working on a daily basis to advocate for our community to get the resources our school needs. Please keep in mind that our continued growing enrollment could potentially mean additional teachers coming to us and possible reconfigurations of classes later in the fall. I am trying as hard as I can to plan ahead and minimize disruption but please be aware that there is potential for this moving forward.

If you have any questions, please call the school at 626-0062.

These are trying times for sure in our community. We are thankful for your generous support and know that we can make it through tough times when we work together.

Masks in schools: As you may be aware, Governor Sisolak issued a mask mandate for several counties including Washoe. Please plan to have your child masked daily for school.

Additionally, our school nurse, Melissa,  is touching base with all families of children with respiratory distress to double check plans are updated and appropriate for each childWe are not expecting the same district response with “smoke days” this year. In the event of extreme smoke conditions, WCSD could cancel school and those days would be made up with contingency days in June.

Laptop Takehome Program and all school technology fee: All Bohach students in grades 3-5 participate in a laptop takehome program.

    Dear Bohach Families,

We are also very excited to begin this year together. Our office is available until 4:00. If you need anything please reach out. I am readily accessible by email and will follow up within 24 hours (usually sooner). My email is hgavrilles@washoeschools.net

As we are all settling in to our new school year, we have some important info to share:

    NEW INFO:

Pick up and Dropoff: PLEASE HELP US! Drop of is at the curb ONLY.

Picture day is next week, September 9 look for order forms from your child’s teacher or use this link:  BOHACH SCHOOL PICTURES

    Repeat Items:

COVID-19 exclusions: We do have many students currently excluded. We work hand in hand with the Washoe County Health District and Washoe Count School District Student Health Services to contact trace, determine exclusions and notify families. In order to help streamline our process, moving forward we will be increasingly relying on automated calling through the blackboard connect system. Please help us to reach you by making sure we have the correct number for you, correct email and that your phone is able to accept a voice message. Students who are excluded will have options for a shorter exclusion if you opt to test out. If your child is excluded you will receive detailed and specific information about return dates, and testing options as well as how to access temporary distance learning. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding with us as we navigate these very difficult decisions in extremely difficult times.

We are anticipating adding a few additional teachers in the upcoming weeks. This is great news for our community and will result on smaller class sizes and better support for all students. Please look for more detailed communication regarding this from your child’s teacher in the upcoming weeks.

SWAG: we have t shirts and hoodies on sale in the office and these will be available for purchase during back to school night. Kid sized grey t shirts are $12, Tie dye t shirts are $20, Hoodies and baseball shirts are $25. WE HAVE NEW INVENTORY IN KID SIZES!!! Call or stop by for more info. Get that Bohach FIT!

Dropoff and pickup: dropoff and pickup are at the FRONT OF THE SCHOOL ONLY.

Dear Bohach Families, we have just a few quick updates to share with you including an updated calendar.

LAPTOP RETURN: this week we will be checking in laptops for any student who has been issued a device. Students need to return the laptop, charger, case and stylus on the appropriate day for their grade level. Students will need to report the condition of their laptop and devices will be inspected. This allows us to make any insurance claims to correct damage. Please see the attached PDF copy of the technology agreement for your reference as you plan for the return and any fees you might owe. Thank you for your cooperation on this. These devices need to last for many years and your responsible stewardship makes this possible.  For your quick reference, the following fees were agreed when laptops were issued:

    • Repair fee (per repair + parts).......................................................$15.00
    • Lost/broken AC adapter/charger  .................................................$84.00
    • Lost or broken case .......................................................................$20.00
    • Identification sticker/label replacement  ......................................$10.00
    • Lost, non-repairable or stolen laptop .......................................... $495.00

FIELD DAY: we will be having our first field days. Monday, June 7 will be K-2 field day and Tuesday, June 8 will be 3-5 field day. Please help us stay safe and maximize fun by ensuring that your child wears the appropriate attire: sneakers, t shirt and shorts are recommended as is sunscreen a refillable water bottle and an extra mask (10 years and above if needed).

END OF YEAR SPECIAL EVENTS: our different grade levels are planning many fun activities for the end of the year, please look out for communications directly from your teacher with details.

If you have any questions, please call the school at 626-0062.

Dear Bohach Families, we have just a few quick updates to share with you including an updated calendar.

A HUGE THANK you to all of our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students and families for the great work during our state assessments. We appreciate your hard work.

Fifth grade families, please take advantage of the open house at Sky Ranch Middle School on May 19, 5:00-7:00.

If you have any questions, please call the school at 626-0062.

These are trying times for sure in our community. We are thankful for your generous support and know that we can make it through tough times when we work together.
