    Within the American Government course, students will explore the foundations of American government and its fundamental principles and organization. The course provides opportunities to examine government concepts such as the growth of democracy, federalism, separation of powers, and checks and balances. Other topics covered include political parties, interest groups, ways to affect the government, and the influence of the media. Finally, students will learn about local and state government structures, and compare political systems and economies from around the world.
