The grade level expectations for fifth grade guide students to develop answers to questions such as: “How do we learn about stereotypes of boys and girls from the world around us? How can we help others to be good digital citizens? What is cyberbullying, and how do you deal with it? How do I cite different types of online sources? The expectations for fifth grade address ISTE Student Standards, NVACS, AASL, and CASEL. Students reinforce learning around identity and self-image, as well as digital drama and cyberbullying. Students build upon previous learning to demonstrate grade-appropriate mastery on the topics of communication and relationships, safety, security and privacy practices, and information literacy competencies. Artifacts created through lessons should be posted in the classroom for reference throughout the academic year.
