The expectations in third grade help students to construct answers to questions such as: “What kinds of responsibilities does a good digital citizen have? What’s the difference between Internet friends and in-person friends? How can you protect yourself from online identity theft? How do some websites get you to buy things?” Third grade expectations address ISTE Student Standards, NVACS, AASL, and CASEL. Throughout the lessons, students are introduced to communication and relationships. Additionally, students are expected to demonstrate grade-appropriate mastery of safety, security and privacy practices, and information literacy competencies.
