Homework

  • Today's Date:  Monday, May 11, 2020 through Friday, May 29, 2020

     Freshman & Sophomore English

For Phase 3, the work that you do will be used as extra credit or, in some cases, will take the place of missing assignments (not tests or quizzes, though).

You'll see a column in IC that says "Distance Learning Writing - Phase 3," and another that says "Distance Learning Reading - Phase 3."

Every time you submit a writing of at least 150 words, I'll put 10 points of extra credit into the Distance Learning Writing Phase 3 column, assuming - of course - that it makes sense, is legible, and is mostly free from grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes.

Every time you submit your 5 bullet points with a parent signature, I'll put 10 points of extra credit into the Distance Learning Reading Phase 3 column.

Between May 11 and May 29 you'll have 7 English sessions.  So, you could get up to 140 points of extra credit, 70 for writing and 70 for reading.

NOTE: If you're happy with where your grade is right now, you do not have to do these assignments.   Although, I'd love for you to do them for the practice value.  Your grade (if you do nothing) will be the same as it was when you left on March 13.

Each day you have an English session, PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR WORK.  You may use Google Docs (make sure you select "Share the document" before you send it), Microsoft Word, or simply take a photo and email me that.

*Here's what you need to do:

Session 1:  Read AR book for 30 minutes, do 5 bullet points, and get a parent signature & write 150 words on any topic you choose or one from the packet.

Session 2: Read an article of the week, do 5 bullet points, and get a parent signature & write 150 words on any topic you choose or one from the packet.

Session 3:  Read AR book for 30 minutes, do 5 bullet points, and get a parent signature & write 150 words on any topic you choose or one from the packet.

Session 4:  Read an article of the week, do 5 bullet points, and get a parent signature & write 150 words on any topic you choose or one from the packet.

Session 5:  Read AR book for 30 minutes, do 5 bullet points, and get a parent signature & write 150 words on any topic you choose or one from the packet.

Session 6:  Read an article of the week, do 5 bullet points, and get a parent signature & write 150 words on any topic you choose or one from the packet.

Session 7:  Read AR book for 30 minutes, do 5 bullet points, and get a parent signature & write 150 words on any topic you choose or one from the packet.

NOTE: For the article of the week, I've included only the link to older articles (2013-2019) so you can have more of a choice, get away from CoVid articles if you like.  (See LINK below.)

SOPHOMORES ONLY: if you correctly annotate the article of the week, you don't have to do the 5 bullet points nor get a parent signature, and I'll give you 15 extra credit points instead of 10.
